London Wedding Photographer | The Berkeley Hotel
As a london wedding photographer The Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge is a great hotel to work in. Like it’s sister hotels The Connaught and Claridge’s the hotel exudes grace and elegance. Part of the Maybourne group these are true 5 star luxury hotels. Situated adjacent to the hotel is the beautiful church of St Pauls, one of the most beautiful churches in London. Couples often get married in this church and then hold their wedding reception at The Berkeley. The hotel does not have any formal grounds as such, but if the weather is kind there are many local area’s for wedding photographs.
Located on the corner of Piccadilly and Berkeley Street, the area was once the base for the drivers of mail coaches travelling to the West Country, and hence named the Gloucester coffee house. As a result it started to expand, and became a hotel for travellers both to and from London who were travelling on the mail coach services. With the coming of the railways, in 1897 the building was formally renamed The Berkeley Hotel and in the 1920s was one of the first london hotels with air conditioning. In 1972, the hotel moved to a new building, it’s present location, on Wilton Place. It was designed by British architect Brian O’Rorke .
